Reviving an Old E-mail List

Before I decided to take my site to a Content Management System I developed an email newsletter and sent alerts of the updated website to my subscribers. Since I was a beginner to email marketing, I used Constant Contact to handle the design, delivery and tracking of my campaign. But like most marketers without a solid plan on how to maintain and develop content on a consistent basis I soon began to falter on delivering my newsletter. But I kept my subscription list and decided at some point I would reconnect with my subscribers again.

Now when you use an old list you run the risk of being reported as a spammer. Email programs make it very easy for a subscriber to with a click of button have you classified as a spammer so use care when resuscitating an old subscriber list. Against the advice that it’s not good to use a list that is over 2 years old I used my little list of 76 subscribers that was almost 3 years old. I used an incentive of winning a drawing to entice visitors to become subscribers. I will post my results in another post but here is some advice from Mail Chimp’s blog Monkey Brains a very trusted source for all things related to e-mail marketing.
