The Re-launch of Urban Beauty Online

I am so happy that I am finally done with the re-design of my site urbanbeautyonline.com it has been a long process but well worth my final result. Initially I was using Dreamweaver and the book Web Redesign 2.0: Workflow that Works. Soon I realized that the site and the amount of content I planned to create would make the site very hard to manage, so I ditched Dreamweaver. But I still used the information I aquired from the book to plan the mission, architecture and vision for the site.

I decided that a CMS system would be the best answer and started to research Typepad, Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress and after much consideration settled upon Wordpress. Luckily I host my account with Godaddy which offers Wordpress and other open source software with simple 1 click installation.

Wordpress has a pretty steep learning curve and does take some getting used to so I bought Wordpress for Dummies to help me through. I find it a great resource because you don't have to read it cover to cover just pick problem and find the solution.

Another great resource I discovered was solostream.com. I found my theme for my Wordpress website there and I love it so thanks Michael Pollock (that's the CEO of Solostream).
